While the club has shown flashes of quality, inconsistency at both ends of the pitch has kept them from building sustained momentum. They’ve managed just two multi-goal performances since May, and defensive stability has been elusive, with only two clean sheets all season. The current run of form — one win in their last five — underscores the need for a turnaround if they want to climb the table.

The backbone of the team remains its veteran core. Midfield anchors Jaclyn Sawicki and Megan Dougherty-Howard, along with New Zealand international centre-back Mikayla Moore, continue to set the standard for professionalism and reliability. However, the attack has missed the dynamism of Australian international Kahli Johnson during her absences through injury and national team duty. That void, coupled with a lack of consistent end product, has put pressure on the club’s new summer signings to make an immediate impact. Both forward Jorian Baucom — with experience in the NWSL — and former A-League striker Kathryn Harvey bring proven pedigree and are expected to shoulder a heavier attacking load in the second half of the season. Rookie Serita Thurton has been a consistent presence on the right wing.

At the back, Calgary have dealt with ongoing injury problems, including extended spells out for key contributors like Caileigh Boeckx, Talia White, and Farkhunda Muhtaj. The goalkeeper spot has also been in rotation, with Jaclyn Burns and Stephanie Bukovec both seeing significant minutes as the coaching staff searches for the hot hand.

Off the field, Calgary have been well supported, averaging 3,975 fans per match — a strong showing for a first-year side. With reinforcements in the squad, a relatively healthy veteran spine, and coach Lydia Bedford vocal about demanding more, the second half of the season will be about tightening the defensive structure and turning attacking promise into consistent results.
